Let’s sew the Fabric Scrap Easter Egg!

Place egg pieces in pairs, right sides together. Pin and stitch along one curved edge using a ¼″ (7 mm) seam allowance, backstitching at the beginning and end.
Note: If using contrasting fabrics, ensure you pair two different patterns together.

Trim the seam allowances by half and turn one piece right side out. Smooth the seam with your fingers from the inside to ensure a nice curve. Insert one piece into the other, right sides together.

Align the seams and raw edges, pin all around. Stitch with a ¼″ (7 mm) seam allowance, leaving a 1″ (2.5 cm) opening on one side for turning. Be sure to backstitch at the beginning and end of the opening to secure the seam.
Note: If you are using different fabric scraps, make sure to pair contrasting fabrics to create an alternating pattern.

Trim the seam allowances by half, but leave them full-width at the opening. This will make it much easier to fold the edges inward later. Turn the egg right side out through the opening and stuff it firmly with polyester fiberfill.

Tuck the seam allowances inside and close the opening using an invisible hand stitch (Ladder stitch). Click here to view our free photo tutorial on how to sew a ladder stitch.
